RAIN now has a hyper-realistic virtual learning environment, so we take trainees from any part of the world. You sit in a 360-degree classroom with your classmates around you and the teacher, screen and board in front; voices come from where people sit. Then you walk into a 3D lab to fly drones, drive robot cars, dive an underwater robot and code at the benches. It runs on a phone, a laptop or a VR headset.

Most of the work here is building.
Seventy per cent of each programme is product development. A typical day is three hours of class, then the lab: wiring, coding, testing, failing and fixing. On Fridays every trainee presents to the room, and visitors to RAIN ask trainees to explain what they built and who it helps.
Project management runs through the programme, so by the end you can plan, cost and deliver work for a client, and many trainees leave in start-up teams.

We write the books we teach from: 12 full textbooks with worked examples, code, exercises and a free assessment at the end of every chapter, towards the RAIN certification. Anyone can buy them, and owners get a discount when they join RAIN.
RAIN was founded in 2020 by Dr Olusola Ayoola, who holds a PhD in robotics from the University of Manchester, where he built ground and underwater robots for the UK's nuclear decommissioning programme. He teaches robotics and control to postgraduate students at the University of Ibadan.
His projects include a scream-detection system for public buses, exoskeletons for upper-limb rehabilitation, carbon-tracking drones and a smart drug dispenser for people with dementia. RAIN has hosted the Deputy Secretary-General of the United Nations, the Canadian Trade Commissioner, a United States Consulate delegation and UNDP Nigeria, and runs the Meta AI Developer Academy.

Yes, for trainees who are not based in Ibadan: rooms inside the RAIN compound from ₦1,400,000 a session, with internet, a water heater, air conditioning, power, water and security. Residents cook or order their own food. See the rooms and prices.

Yes. Classes are physical or virtual. Virtual classes run when there are enough trainees, on a schedule agreed with your tutor. RDA is best done on campus because of the hardware.
